The Board of the NZSA has asked me to write to you with regard to Phil Pryke and his status as an Independent Director on the Contact Energy board.
We are prepared to accept Phil as a director on the Contact Energy Board providing it is made clear at the next AGM that Phil is an Origin appointee.
Should you disagree with our recommendation, we will have no option but to put a motion to the AGM to have him removed as a director of Contact Energy.
The NZSA would like to see another independent director appointed to the Board of Contact Energy.
Since we last met I have had meaningful discussions with both Sue and David on a number of issues which has been very productive towards improving communication between the NZSA and Contact Energy.
As I am sure you are aware, it is the policy of the Shareholders’ Association to publish all of its correspondence on its website at www.nzshareholders.co.nz , together with replies when received.
